Sourcing custom CNC parts from China can give Southeast Asian manufacturers access to a broad supplier base, but a low unit price alone does not guarantee a successful project. Problems often begin when the buyer and supplier interpret the drawing differently, assume different inspection standards or leave surface finishing and packaging requirements undefined.
This guide explains how to compare suppliers for prototypes and small-batch production without relying on vague claims such as “best quality” or “advanced factory.” The goal is to find a supplier whose actual capabilities fit your part.
A supplier cannot quote accurately from a part image alone. Before requesting prices, prepare a compact RFQ package containing the information below.

If the design is still changing, tell the supplier that the order is for design validation. A prototype project needs flexibility and engineering feedback, while a repeat order requires process stability and revision control.
“CNC machining” covers many different operations. A supplier that performs well on simple turned shafts may not be the right choice for a multi-sided milled housing. Ask how the part will be produced and which features create the greatest risk.
